STRANDED
OLADIPUPO CHARLES
William stepped out of the Rico supermarket, humming a song to himself. He stepped into the cold street of Broadsway.
He was greeted by a cold breeze which surf through his body and made his blonde hair stand straight like a barley in a summer field.
He grunted and rubbed his tired gradually wrinkled face as he walked off the Rico premises.
His phone rang, he checked it and saw Alicia.
"Hello" A lady voice called.
"Hello" he replied beaming while rubbing his shoes against the floor
For few seconds they stood, not talking while basking in the moment.
"I would be home soon" William said, breaking the air of silence and then the phone went dead.
Music still baring from the supermarket, Williams concentrated on making it far away from the place as he made giant strides to the subway station.
Shops and offices has closed for the day, people went their way, everyone scrambling off the road downward towards the subway station.
William had a glare at the sky, it was dark and objectless until a lightning flashed brightly across the heavenly vault.
He quickly hasten his steps. He was descending the stairs into the subway station when he heard someone screamed him name.
"William!" The person repeated.
He stopped, took a deep breath and turned.
"It's me Steven" The person replied spreading his hands in a home welcoming manner.
William nodded his head and smiled while rubbing his shoes on the floor.
Steven walked closer to him and hugged him tightly.
William sniffed. He breathed in Steven's cologne.
"Now common on don't sniff, it's been awhile"
William nodded again.
Steven retrenched and looked into his face. For few seconds both gaze into each other's eyes, passing information. Ocean blue eyes staring into brown boring ones.
Steven brought his mouth closer to his for a kiss then the enchantment broke. William pushed him away.
"What?" Steven said, alarmed and disappointed.
"I...." William stammered as his cheeks turned red with surprise.
"Oh you have a new boyfriend, I'm sorry" Steven said with a coyly smile.
"You've forgotten us so soon"
Steven dipped his hands into his mouth, it came out with a loud pop and then winked at William.
"I don't do such things again, please stay off me!" William raised his voice while his whole body vibrated.
He started off towards the station, he looked back and saw Steven coming then he picked race.
Steven followed him.
William ran into the last coach of the waiting train, Steven rushed in before the train started moving.
He quickly cornered William.
"Leave me alone!" William said.
"Look into my face and tell me you don't love me, that you don't want to see me" Steven whispered.
William felt his body burning. He could feel goosebumps on his cold skin.
Alicia's face pop into his mind, her smiles. He wanted to smile but the smile was blocked with a mouth.
Steven closed his mouth around his and wrapped him into a tight embrace.
Steven was totally pressed unto him.
He could feel his desire for own lips and craving for the forbidden fruit.
"William I've always love you" Steven moan into his mouth, while still raving it.
"What the fuck are these faggots doing!" A dude screamed as he stood up.
Everybody in the coach stood up.
"Love will always win!" Steven said as he stepped away from him, knelt down to produced a ring.
"William will you please marry me?" He said with a bright smile on his face.
Some people started clapping and shouting say Yes.
William was stunned and surprise. The bag he held fell down.
"William?!" A feminine voice screamed his name.
Fear crept into his mind, before he looked into the person's face he already knew who the person is.
"Alicia" he replied, his voice trailing off.
"What? You...re ditching me without telling me?" She cried as she rested her head on one of her friend' shoulder. He saw tears snaking from her green eyes down her cheeks.
"I...." He stammered.
Steven stood up and gave Alicia a dirty look.
"It was you lot that stole him away from me!" He shouted.
"You can keep him!" She replied and stormed out crying and her two friends running after her.
William wanted to run after her but Steven held him.
"You're free now, you can live your life without fear of being prejudice"
"Yes, I can live my life but it would be prejudice if she isn't in my life. She gave meaning to my life. I can trade the world for her!"
He snatched his hands off Steven and stormed out.
"William!"
William ran towards the exits.
